I really want to write about my marathon – you know I do. But I don’t have a moment right now so I’m just going to post a few photos and say this: I did it!
And, it was easier and more fun than I expected it would be – until the last 3 or 4 miles anyway. Then, it was everything I expected it would be – which is to say that it was very, very difficult.
Here we are, bright and energetic at the starting line with our awesome throw-away sweatshirts and big smiles.
This is right around the half-mile mark, as we head up the first hill. No problem (yet).
Feeling like spring chickens at the 10k mark …
This dude rocked right around the 10 mile mark.
Finally splitting off from the half-marathoners …
And they send us up onto the interstate – a baron, lonely place without crowd support. Way too much was run on this strip, in my opinion. Couldn’t wait to get off.
I didn’t take another photo until mile 20, but from 14 to 20, we ran around a university and high school track, which was fun, then through some gorgeous neighborhoods.
Annnnd I failed to take any photos from mile 20 to 26.2 because, well, I was running a marathon and that’s the hardest part of it. I was digging deep. But we finished strong, finished running and finished! We FINISHED!
Full race recap tomorrow. Right now, I’m catching up on work and life and trying really, really hard to stand up and sit down without collapsing in pain.
