I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m truly in love with these shoes.
I don’t even know where to begin.
I love them so much I bought another pair (GASP!) to get me through marathon training – and with the crazy mileage, I might even need a third. (I’m so happy they make them in so many awesome colors.)
That never happens as I generally like to try new shoes, colors, and styles as often as possible.
Post Newton’s, I needed something with a bigger heel-forefoot ratio and a little more support. I was dealing with Achilles tendonitis and trying to find something with more spring. I read and read and read.
I was drawn to the Pure line in general, but knew the PureConnect was too minimal and the PureGrit is geared toward trail running. I had to decide between the Flow and the Cadence. After doing my internet browsing, I came to the conclusion that the PureFlow was what I needed.
“For runners who love the feel of free feet but count on cushion to go the distance, this shoe strikes the perfect balance.” Yup. That’s me.
Now, I’d never worn Brooks before and I have especially narrow feet, so I made sure to read reviews by folks with the same issues – and they were all ecstatic.
These shoe feel like running on a cloud. They’re soft and flexible enough that I can feel the road under me, but offer a lot of side-to-side stability that helps lock my heel into my stride. I land on the soft cushion without a lot of lateral movement. I spring into my next step with energy.
From day one, I’ve loved these shoes. They’re lightweight, flexible and still stable for me. They don’t rub anywhere they shouldn’t, they dry quickly and they still look brand new even though my first pair has 350 miles on them.
They come in great colors – I’ve got them in black, above, and just bought my new pair in purple. I’ll probably be ordering a pair of the white or pink soon too, to make it through marathon training and then the fall/winter races I’m anticipating.
I can’t believe I’m even saying that I’m going to order another pair of the same shoes. That’s definitely a testament to how awesome these shoes are and have been for me. They go the distance for my long runs and keep me injury free.
Quick Likes
- Lightweight yet very stable
- Stable, yet still flexible and cushioned
- My narrow feet fit snugly and tie tight without movement in the toebed
- No blisters, ever!
- Colors! Did I mention I love the colors?
Quick Dislikes
- My second pair feels slightly shorter than my first pair (my toe rubs the front in one shoe). Seriously. That’s my only complaint.
Hey, nice review. I totally agree with you, these shoes rock! I am running my second pair and about to go for the third. One question though. I’m thinking in going into something less bouncy for my faster runs and I’m thinking of the newton distance. I’ve seen you wore those before. How can you compare them to the flows? Are you using the same size?
Thanks!
EM
The Newtons are definitely less bouncy. I had to go a half size bigger in the Newtons than my Brooks. I really didn’t like them as much, but see they could be helpful for faster speeds/shorter distances. My best friend/running partner has been running in the Newtons for a year now and loves them (marathon-distances and everything below). They just didn’t work for me. I never got that “OMG THIS IS BLISS” feeling that I get in the Brooks!
